Stevie Blues aka Billy Rey is a stunning 2021 red roan gelding that stands just under 15hh.  If you’re in search of an outstanding cutting horse that will put checks in your pocket, take a look at Stevie Blues.  This stand-out gelding will win at the cutting, take you down the trail, handle your ranch work or just brighten your day.  Billy Rey is a joy to be around on the ground as well as in the saddle.  He stays broke day after day, whether you ride every day or once a week. He is extremely easy to ride and adjusts to different riders. We have used Billy Rey for lessons. Teaching riders that are new to cutting. He is always very patient and willing, building the rider’s confidence quickly.  He is very easy to haul and show, good enough for the open, but gentle enough for a non-pro or amateur.

Billy Rey may only be a 5-year-old but he has been in good hands his whole life.  His training started with Morgan Cromer, one of the best!  With 3 years of professional cutting training, he has an exceptional handle.  He stays light in the bridle and moves off your leg easily.  He has a lot of cow and stays hooked.  He is quick-footed, but a very smooth mover, that just takes you with him.

Billy Rey’s athletic ability, trainability and disposition are not accidental.  One look at his pedigree and you’ll know why!  His sire is the ONE and ONLY Stevie Rey Von-with LTE $420,903 and PE over $20 million.  He is the only living stallion in NCHA Open Futurity history to be an NCHA Open Futurity Champion, sired by an NCHA Open Futurity Champion and to have sired an NCHA Open Futurity Champion.

His dam is This Kittys Smart-LTE $113,855, producer of money earners and an own daughter of WR This Cats Smart-LTE $263,514 and PE over $20 million.

Billy Rey has been used outside the arena as well. He has been used to check and move cattle. He has seen a lot of outside miles in a wide variety of terrain-from steep rocky bluffs, thick timber, and open pastures. He handles everything with calm confidence. Don’t think Billy Rey is just all about work. He definitely enjoys a nice relaxing trail ride. Walking down the trail slow and steady. Soaking up the scenery.
