Walt started showing Western Pleasure horses at age 4 and trained his first Pleasure horse at age 12.  Before becoming a cutting horse trainer he also trained and showed reining horses.  Walt started training cutting in 2003.

Walt enjoys the process of training a 3 year old and helping the horse become a confident and successful show horse.  In the recent past Walt has been an Open Semi-Finalist and John Deere Limited Finalist in the 2016 NCHA Futurity.  He was also the Open Champion at the Eastern Nationals in 2015.  He has also lately been a finalist at the Ike Derby and Classic, Augusta Futurity, Southern Cutting Futurity, and the 2016 NCHA Summer Spectacular.  At the 2016 NCHA Summer Spectacular he was reserve finalist in the John Deere Limited Classic, as well as the being a semi-finalist in the Derby and a John Deere Limited Finalist in the Derby.   Walt’s customers have also had success in the show pen as finalist and champions, including but not limited to the 2016 NCHA Futurity, 2016 NCHA Summer Spectacular, 2015 Eastern Nationals, Ike Derby and Classic, Augusta Futurity, Southern Cutting Futurity and the CottonStakes.  Walt won the Classic Open at the Augusta Futurity in 2019 on Denise Seiz's horse, Willie J Rey.

Walt enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.  He and his son, Will, can be found enjoying an afternoon at a local golf course during the Summer Spectacular on a down day.  Walt has been married to Sara for almost 15 years.  He has five children, Lily, Will, John, Ella and Sam.

Walt is currently accepting outside horses in all age ranges but specializes in limited aged event horses.  He also gives lessons to youth, amateur and non pro riders.
