'18 red roan stallion, Metallic Rebel × Lil Rattler, by Dual Rey

LTE $342,528 - NCHA Horse of the Year & NCHA Hall of Fame

Third Edge is a 2018 red roan stallion by Metallic Rebel and out of Lil Rattler, a producer of more than $1.6 million. An NCHA Horse of the Year and Hall of Fame inductee, he earned $342,528 in the show pen under Wesley Galyean. Known for his consistency, grit, and signature eye appeal, Third Edge became one of the sport’s most reliable and celebrated athletes, standing out as a performer who always delivered when it mattered.

Standing 14.2 hands and 7-panel N/N, Third Edge combines balance, bone, and athleticism with a commanding presence. His structure—good-necked, deep-walking, and correct—paired with his keen intelligence and trainability, makes him the picture of a performance horse stallion.

As Galyean described, “He was like a train going down the tracks. Easy, steady, and unstoppable.”

These qualities set him apart not only as a show horse but as a sire with the makings to influence generations.

Third Edge’s breeding career is already off to a historic start. His oldest foals were born in 2024, and they made headlines at the Teton Ridge Sale in September of 2025, highlighted by a blue roan yearling filly out of Twice In Santiago that commanded $450,000. He also set a record for the highest-selling embryo ever offered at public auction, bringing $450,000, and his progeny averaged $132,000 across the sale. Bred to some of the greatest mares in the industry, Third Edge is positioned to become an industry-shaping sire whose legacy will be measured in the champions that follow.
